Eaton releases Synflex 33CH-08 acid-resistant Thermoplastic Hose

May 5, 2015 - Eaton releases Synflex 33CH-08 thermoplastic hose that features a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) liner tube, which provides increased resistance to the effects of acid and lower permeability with methanol and other similar fluids.

This hose will provide many years of safe and reliable service for oil and gas applications, including hydraulic flying leads and Installation/Intervention Work Over Control (IWOC) umbilical hoses.

Constructed with a stainless steel carcass and reinforced with two braids of Kevlar aramid fiber, the 33CH-08 hose is jacketed with blue polyurethane, which makes the hose easily identifiable from other subsea hoses, even under water and at deep depths. The jacket is pin-pricked in accordance with American Petroleum Institute (API) specification 17E.

The hose is rated for 5,000 pounds per square inch (PSI) working pressure, with a full API 17E rating, including 4:1 Burst to WP ratio and more than 200,000 test cycles at 6,650 psi. The 33CH-08 is approved for use at temperatures from -40°C to +70°C, and is lightweight at only 50.1 pounds per 100 feet. It is currently available in continuous lengths of up to 10,000 feet.

“The 33CH-08, the latest addition to Eaton’s Synflex line of subsea hose products, was built to meet the evolving needs of the oil and gas industry,” said Mark DuVernay, marketing manager, Eaton. “Capable of handling fluids with higher concentrations of acid, and significantly reducing permeation of methanol-type fluids, this high value hose product will help end users achieve their production goals safely and sustainably.”
