EPLAN introduces EPLAN Smart Wiring software

October 24, 2016 – EPLAN has launched EPLAN Smart Wiring, a web-based software application that enables installers to wire switchgear systems faster and with fewer errors. Smart Wiring is the next logical step for integrating engineering and manufacturing. To promote it, EPLAN is offering a no-obligation, four-month free trial of the software for those who register for it by Jan. 31, 2017.

Up to 43 percent of manual cabinet assembly is wiring. Smart Wiring provides the installer with a clear understanding in visual form and step by step instructions to make the work virtually foolproof. The touch-optimized interface is ideal for mobile devices, so it’s always ready for use right at the cabinet. 

Wiring a cabinet involves expertise that is traditionally stored in people’s minds – tribal knowledge – that now is anchored in EPLAN Smart Wiring. It dispenses with the need to follow a schematic – making superfluous any interpretation of that often complex piece of 2D documentation. EPLAN Smart Wiring visualizes the mounting layout, devices, connections and routing tracks. This can be based on a 3D layout created by engineering in EPLAN Pro Panel, or from data like connection and wiring lists prepared in other ECAD systems, read into an MS-Excel format and then processed in EPLAN Smart Wiring. The automatic project comparison function ensures that last-minute design changes find their way into production. Problem and error reporting, status and manufacturing reports can be prepared at the push of a button and then e-mailed to engineering or those responsible for production planning.

EPLAN will conduct demonstrations of EPLAN Smart Wiring at the company’s booth (#1915) at Automation Fair, Nov 9-10 in Atlanta, presented by Rockwell Automation.
