Fives partners with National Research Council of Canada to enhance manufacturing of composite parts

January 22, 2019 - The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) and Fives have announced that they are working together to improve the efficiency of manufacturing composite parts. They are developing a profilometer that will provide part inspection.
Based on an optical technology, the profilometer for composite placement has in-process inspection technology designed to help manufacturers meet strict standards by providing measuring information without limiting the process functionality.
Fives has already started the last testing stage of the profilometer with customers and expects to begin commercializing the technology before the end of 2019. The NRC and Fives will continue to work together to advance this technology and bring manufacturing solutions to the aerospace industry.
