Insys updates security on serial MRXcard routers

November 4, 2015 - Insys updates security in firmware version 1.1 for the MRX router to include encrypted data transfer options and VPN functions for the serial MRXcard SI equipped with RS232 and RS485 ports, two digital inputs and two outputs.

In addition to OpenVPN, the update now supports the IPsec protocol as well as GRE, which is often used in conjunction with it. Users can now also monitor network components via the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). Two basic versions, MRX LTE with 4G and MRX LAN, are

available in two different sizes with three or five slots, respectively.

The LAN version offers five LAN ports for variable network assignment and a power module with two digital inputs. The LTE version adds two antenna connectors for enhanced bandwidth as needed (MIMO). In addition to the new MRXcard SI, INSYS icom also offers the MRXcard ES that provides a 4-port-switch as well as the MRXcard PL module, which features 4G support and two digital inputs. All 4G modules are downward compatible to 3G and 2G.
