“Serial2Net” is the combination design of Serial and Ethernet to enhance effectiveness of networks. Serial communication is widely used in commercial and industrial applications for data transference, because of its user-friendly interface and low manufacturing cost. Many devices are controlled by serial signal, such as LCD panels and barcode readers. However, serial communication has disadvantages, such as limitation of transmission length and simplified functions, but it can be improved by using Ethernet. Therefore, “Serial2Net” is ideal solution for industrial front-end control applications where both of serial and Ethernet is needed.

Korenix JetBox 5300-w Embedded Linux computer is equipped with 2 LAN ports and 4 serial ports (2 x RS232/422/485 and 2 x RS232). With “Serial to Ethernet (ser2net)” supported, Korenix JetBox 5300-w Embedded Linux computer is capable to provide better quality of data transmission and efficient control of connection between legacy serial devices to Ethernet. For example, JetBox 5300-w can transfer the data which is generated from PLCs to the computers in the control centers or control the terminal serial devices from remote sites; therefore, it provides simple, cost-effective, flexible and integrated system for existing infrastructure.
