KUNBUS introduces TAP Curious tool for Ethernet network analysis

July 31, 2017 – In launching TAP Curious, KUNBUS has introduced a mobile device to analyze all the real time ethernet networks. The device’s main tasks include recording and analysing Delay, Jitter and CRC faults in the network. Filter functions as well as in and outputs simplify the operation of the device.
TAP Curious is a mobile device designed to analyse real time ethernet networks. TAP Curious can monitor up to two independent ethernet channels simultaneously in full duplex operation. Thanks to the passive listening operation, there are zero delays and data communication in the network is not influenced. TAP Curious generates a time stamp of 1 ns enabling timing analysis.

With the help of filter functions that can be adjusted using a browser-based configuration tool, certain values can be targeted and searched for specifically and the volume of data to be analysed can be reduced.

By means of the available digital in and outputs, it is possible to trigger particular network conditions; ideal for specifically narrowing down sporadically appearing faults and then finding and rectifying them. In addition to the digital output, there are also five freely configurable LEDs available to indicate optically, for example, the occurrence of a faulty transmission on the device.

The TAP Curious is connected to a PC or laptop by means of a GBit ethernet interface. The reading and evaluation of the measured package data is done via the freely available Wireshark software. A plugin is available for a trouble-free software integration.
