Matrikon announces release of Matrikon UA Tunneller

June 16, 2017 – Matrikon announced the release of its Matrikon UA Tunneller which allows OPC UA-enabled client applications to communicate with OPC Classic Servers and Clients, as well as OPC UA Servers and vice versa. For example, a human-machine interface (HMI) that is still utilizing OPC Classic could be adapted to interface with OPC UA devices. As a result, operators are able to remain on their current systems while gaining additional insights and connectivity with UA-enabled equipment as it is added.

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industrie 4.0 have created a challenge for the automation industry to standardize network protocols on more functional and interoperable platforms, pushing the OPC Unified Architecture (UA) into mainstream adoption.

For the past 10 years, Matrikon OPC Tunneller has delivered a solution designed to eliminate the majority of OPC Classic connectivity problems via a single package.
