Matrox updates Imaging Library Vision Software for 3D

November 5, 2014 - Matrox Imaging today announced a major update to its core vision software product, Matrox Imaging Library (MIL). MIL 10 Processing Pack 1 will give users even more ready-made tools to solve 2D and 3D vision challenges from within the familiar and proven MIL API along with numerous productivity enhancements that will reduce the development time and effort required to bring solutions to market.

Enhancements for 3D vision include calibration of multiple sheet-of-light and camera systems to work as one; a new, more robust peak detection algorithm and a new 3D surface registration tool. Enhancements for 2D vision include additional image pre-processing, additions to the ID mark reading and verification tools, new color-relative calibration, a new dedicated circle matcher and additional speed optimizations including the use of Intel AVX2 technology. Productivity enhancements include intelligent code completion and context-sensitive help in Visual Studio, C#/Python/Visual Basic scripting and execution and an overhauled Example Launcher utility.

First released in 1993, Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) is a comprehensive collection of software tools for developing industrial imaging applications. MIL includes tools for every step in the process: from application feasibility, to prototyping, through to development and ultimately deployment. The toolkit features interactive software and programming functions for image capture, processing, analysis, annotation, display, and archiving.
