February 27, 2015 - Point Grey announced Blackfly BFLY-PGE-50H5 5.0 megapixel cameras  based on the Sharp RJ32S4AA0DT (mono) and RJ32S3AA0DT (color) sensors, a 2/3" global shutter CCD. This camera model is capable of streaming 2448 x 2048 resolution images at 7.5 FPS. The technology has been developed by Sharp Corporation to provide highly improved sensitivity and image quality compared with conventional CCDs. Its microlens design collects light more efficiently resulting in improved quantum efficiency in the visible and near infrared regions.

The Blackfly supports cable lengths of up to 100 meters using Gigabit Ethernet, is compatible with GigE Vision third-party applications and provides a host of features including Power over Ethernet, temperature and status monitoring, in-field updatable firmware, color interpolation, look up table, gamma correction, pixel binning functionality, and much more.

The BFLY-PGE-50H5C is list priced at $995.
