Schneider Electric Announces Modicon M580 ePAC

April 29, 2015 – Schneider Electric announced Modicon M580 Ethernet programmable automation controller (ePAC) with hot standby functionality (HSBY), native Ethernet and embedded cybersecurity.

M580 has reinforced cybersecurity through the Achilles Level 2 and ISA Certifications; simple and native time stamping solutions; extension of architecture change during the run; and new topology capabilities.

In addition to the redundancy features, the Modicon M580 ePAC maximizes uptime with the capability for online configuration changes without stopping the process. In addition, CANopen fieldbus is now natively integrated through a new embedded CANopen module.

Designed for users who need traceability in their processes and programs, the Modicon M580 ePAC controller has been equipped with larger memory and processing capabilities which allow new integrated functions to improve cybersecurity capabilities and time stamping of values for all variables in process applications, addressing the most complex and demanding processes. The ePAC also allows seamless and affordable step-by-step modernization of existing Quantum and Premium platforms with no need to completely change the system.

“We’re excited to introduce major innovation in automation with the new Modicon M580 ePAC,” said Jose Bonomo, vice president, offer management, Hybrid Systems, Schneider Electric Industry Business. “Cutting-edge functionality allows us to drive true customer benefit with a future-proof solution designed to meet the most pressing industry challenges.”
