Siemens announces MDS D524 RFID transponders

October 29, 2015 - Siemens announces MDS D524 RFID passive, maintenance-free data carriers based on the ISO standard 15693 that allow the user to use the large eight kilobyte FRAM memory over a range of between 6 and 400 millimeters.

The MDS D52x transponders are compact and rugged, making them ideal for a wide range of uses. MDS D521 can be used wherever small data carriers and precision are needed, for instance for tool identification or on workpiece carriers, while in assembly and production lines as well as powertrain applications, MDS D522, D525 and D528 models are most suitable. MDS D524 is ideal for use in production and distribution logistics applications, and the MDS D526 transponder units are particularly suited for logistics operations close to production under even the toughest of environmental conditions. Because the transponders allow an unlimited number of write cycles, they are particularly suitable for the permanent identification of workpieces, part carriers and containers. The transponder data is read by the RFID readers of the Simatic RF200 system.
