Silicon Designs Announces Model 3340 Data Logger

July 23, 2014 – Silicon Designs announced the Model 3340 G-Logger, a three-channel, low cost, portable data acquisition system, offering FFT analysis and display, as well as real-time acceleration and GPS data collection and viewing, all within the same compact package. It uses  Silicon Design's single and triaxial MEMS variable capacitance accelerometers with analog output and 8-32 VDC excitation.

Model 3340 offers 16-bit data acquisition, with data rates of 1 to 10k samples per second and per axis, through each of its available input channels. Its simple and intuitive user interface is built on an NI LabVIEW platform for ease of use. Model 3340 also features real-time data acquisition and readout capabilities with live streaming; real-time pause, scroll back and rewind; SD card recording and memory storage of up to 32 GB; multi-speed recording playback; and remote operation via TCP. Although acquired data is normally written to SD card, Model 3340 users may opt to bypass, in favor of directly streaming to a host computer.

Units may also be configured to collect peak event data. The user can retrieve a list of peak events and view data in all display modes. Data can also be paused, fast forwarded, or rewound. Collected data may be also viewed in a data vs. time model, similar to an oscilloscope. This includes magnitude vs. frequency spectrum data; and meter data, showing current measurements such as DC, RMS, and peaks. Data output is displayed over a time range from 100 ms to two minutes. The unit’s data page allows for simple G readings, with as-needed real-time capability to hide or show any or all of its three measurement channels. Accelerometer performance data may also be viewed from any remote network location.

The G-logger can operate as either from USB power or as a stand-alone device, depending upon user requirement. In standalone mode, with USB disconnected from the host, the Model 3340 operates from either four (4) or eight (8) AA batteries. As a stand-alone device, no additional accelerometer power is required. The unit also features an external power port for conservation of battery life. Data acquisitions for the 3340 can be started and stopped either manually, via the press of a button; or automatically, via a customizable schedule. Average setup time is less than five minutes. Units occupy a highly compact footprint of just 120 mm x 103 mm x 60 mm.

Each Model 3340 G-Logger comes pre-configured with a preset library of compatible Silicon Designs MEMS accelerometer setup specifications and accompanying software at no additional cost. Software is fully compatible with Windows, Vista, 7, & 8 PCs, laptops, and notebooks.
