This page outlines the material specifications for all of the available advertising options on Automation.com. Typically, due dates for all material are one to two weeks prior to your ad going live.
Multimedia - Videos or Podcasts
Please supply the following information one week prior to the first day of the month when your video/podcast is to be featured on the home page or a product portal.
- 100 wide x 56 high pixel image in .jpg, .gif, or .png format
- 5-6 words for title
- Either a link to the video/podcast or the video/podcast file. Most video formats are supported and podcasts must be in .mp3 format.
- URL, phone number and e-mail address to direct visitors for more information.
- Optional: 75-100 word description for video/podcast.
Featured Product
Please supply the following information one week prior to the first day of the month when your product is to be featured on the home page or a product portal.
- 70 x 70 pixel image in .jpg, .gif, or.png format
- 15 - 18 words of text
- URL to direct visitors for more information. Your featured product can be directed to your site or to one of your Product Showcase pages on our site.
Product Portal Sponsorships
Please supply the following information one week prior to when your sponsorship begins.

Product Showcase
Please submit the following information for each product in the Product Showcase:
- Product Name: 75 characters of text.
- Preview Text: No more than 50 words.
- Product Description: This will contain all the information that you want to convey regarding your product. No limit to the amount of text, within reason. Remember, the purpose is to get browsers to take action, i.e. go to your web site, contact you via web form or phone.
- Inquiry Fields: Please provide a URL for more information or spec sheet, along with e-mail address and phone number for inquiries.
- Graphic: This picture will be displayed on the right of the Description Text. The Description Text will flow around the Graphic. This file should be in one of the following formats: .gif, .jpg, .png. Please limit the size of the picture to 250 x 250 pixels.

Please Note: To provide the most meaningful search results for our users, the product name, preview and description should only refer to one product or product family.
Training/Seminar Page
Please submit the following information for each training course and/or seminar page:
- Training Course or Seminar Name: 75 characters of text.
- Preview Text: A few sentences, no more than 50 words.
- Course or Seminar Description: This will contain all the information that you want to convey regarding your event. No limit to the amount of text, within reason. Remember, the purpose is to get browsers to take action, i.e. go to your web site, contact you via web form or phone.
- Inquiry Fields: Please provide a URL for more information, along with e-mail address and phone number for inquiries.
- Graphic: This picture will be displayed on the right of the Description Text. The Description Text will flow around the Graphic. This file should be in one of the following formats: .gif, .jpeg, .png. Please limit the size of the picture to 250 x 250 pixels.

Custom e-Message (List Rental)
Please provide a message in HTML (and/or text) along with a subject line. Make sure the HTML document contains live and active hyperlinks to desired URLs, linked to advertiser's web site. Any images contained in the HTML file should be hosted (and referenced) on the advertiser's web site. Automation.com will send a test message prior to scheduled delivery date for approval. Please provide all the e-mail addresses you would like the test message sent to. Also provide any e-mail addresses (in addition to our list) you would like the actual message sent to. Upon approval, Automation.com will send the message to our subscribers who have opted to receive advertisements from product/service suppliers. The distribution list can be segmented by geography, job title, company type and industry.
Banner / Text Link
Graphical banners can be supplied in .GIF, .JPG, Flash and HTML formats. Please keep file size to less than 40K. You may provide alt text not to exceed 70 characters.
Flash (.swf format) Requirements:
- Macromedia Flash up to version 9.0
- Creative must be delivered as a .swf file
- Must submit an image (GIF or JPEG) to be served in case the user does not have flash installed
- Do not embed the click-through URL in the Flash creative. Create a button that covers the entire creative at the root level or level 0. Enter the following in the “action” tag:

- The frame rate for flash files may not exceed 18 frames per second. 12 frames per second is preferred.
Note: Due to viewing and click track issues for flash banners with some browsers, please also send a .gif file of all flash banners for optimal results.

Text Banner Requirements:
You also have the option to provide a text message in HTML format that includes active links to your site. Please make sure it fits within the allowed banner dimensions. Because some browsers are set up to block images, a text-based banner typically performs better than a purely graphic banner.
Automation.com supports the following banner sizes. Please refer to your advertising program to determine the correct banner size to submit.
- 728 wide x 90 high pixels
- 120 wide x 600 high pixels
- 160 wide x 600 high pixels
- 120 wide x 120 high pixels
- 160 wide x 160 high pixels
- 300 wide x 250 high pixels
Supplier Listing
You can submit your supplier listing right online. To initiate your supplier listing, please follow the following steps. If possible, please review the Listing Options and purchase any upgrades before you submit your Listing. If you already have a listing on the site that you need to edit, please register using the link below and Contact Kia Weller so she can associate your listing with your registration login.
- Register which will allow you to edit in the future
- Review Listing Options
- Submit your Automation Product Manufacturer's listing
- Edit your listing(s).
When you are ready to submit your listing, please have available the following: your company name, full address, phone, fax, e-mail address for inquiries, web site address and a 50-word description. You will also be asked to select relevant product categories for which you supply products. If you purchase the Enhanced or Featured Listing, you will also need to submit your company logo in .jpg, .gif, or .png format, no wider than 250 pixels.
Company Profile Page (part of Featured Supplier Listing)
Please supply a detailed company and product offering description in text. There is no limit to word count, within reason. Your logo, and other company contact information will be pulled from your supplier listing. For your reference, see Example of Company Profile Page.
As part of your company profile, we will create an information request form that allows site visitors to request more information, product catalog, CD, white paper, application guide, etc. The form will be customized to reflect your available material and product offering. Example Request Form.
