ABB announces OmniCore robot controller
The first OmniCore variants are designed to help integrate robots into the digital factory ecosystem, whether manufacturers need standardized motion control or more tailored solutions.

July 9, 2018 - ABB launched its OmniCore controllers, which are designed for 24/7 operations of factories making products.

The first OmniCore variants are designed to help integrate robots into the digital factory ecosystem, whether manufacturers need standardized motion control or more tailored solutions. The ABB Ability digital offering, and Connected Services are built in, as is ABB’s SafeMove2 safety software solution. Thus the controllers can turn any connected industrial robot into a collaborative robot. OmniCore also enables connection with a variety of fieldbuses, advanced vision systems and force control as part of a greater digital ecosystem.

The controller family comes with ABB’s operating system, Robot-Ware7. It is accessed through a ergonomic FlexPendant.

The first of the small robot controller family are expected to be available for order in November, 2018.
