ABB Robotics announces series of training courses for paint robots and OmniCore controller
The paint robot course will be an instructor-led, five-day seminar with practical exercises to teach participants how to program a robot safely.

February 28, 2019 - This year will see ABB Robotics Business launching a range of training courses for robot operators, programmers and maintenance staff covering its paint robots and new OmniCore controller. The courses will take place at ABB’s Training Centre in Milton Keynes.

The paint robot course will be an instructor-led, five-day seminar with practical exercises to teach participants how to program a robot safely. Working with IRC5P (Paint) robots, students will learn how to operate the robot using both hand-held controllers and offline programming software such as RobotStudio. On completion, participants will be able to control the robot in manual and automatic modes, and operate ABB’s RobotStudio, application-specific programming software packages. Using these packages, operators can edit programs offline without interrupting the production line on a simulation of the shop floor. Also being launched will be ABB’s OmniCore controllers’ course.

The OmniCore robot controller family offers the motion control and path accuracy. Designed to help customers build the factories of the future, the controller family comes with the ABB Ability digital platform, ABB Ability Connected Services and ABB’s SafeMove2 safety software built into it. By enabling ABB’s SafeMove2 software solution within the controller, operators are able to make small connected industrial robots collaborative through additional safety settings.

The course is designed to teach participants how to connect their existing operations and how to use the operating system, RobotWare7, through ABB’s re-designed FlexPendant. ABB’s other course offerings include the opportunity to program and operate the dual-arm YuMi collaborative robot. The YuMi Programming and Operation course involves four and a half days of training, with a hands-on session where participants will learn how to operate YuMi in manual and automatic modes with integrated vision inspection tools. Targeted at integrators and programmers, the course teaches students to safely operate collaborative robot equipment, create basic programs and configure cameras using RobotStudio’s vision program to move the robot to a detected object.
