3,400 mile ride will take 44 days and raise money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

June 10, 2015 – ABB is sponsoring Dave Madden, an employee who is cycling across the U.S. for charity.

Dave Madden is the Standards & Certification Engineer at ABB’s Measurement & Analytics Warminster, Pennsylvania factory. Starting on Santa Monica pier in California on Tuesday June 9, 2015, Dave and his friend Derek Fitzgerald began their 3,400 mile bicycle ride to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society charity.

The "Tour for a Cure" journey will take 44 days and end on the beach at Avalon, New Jersey. ABB is sponsoring the ride, via its ABB Foundation, by matching all ABB employee charitable donations made in support of this great effort.

In addition, ABB’s Measurement & Analytics business has built a webpage where anyone can follow Dave and Derek’s progress across the country and donate to show support. The website includes an interactive map that tracks their progress and shows key measurements at each stage of the journey.

The ABB Foundation’s mission is to help improve the quality of life in the communities in which ABB employees live and work by funding local programs that promote education, culture, arts, health and welfare.

ABB is a global leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve performance while lowering environmental impact. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs about 140,000 people. The company has invested heavily in North America over the past five years, with acquisitions totaling nearly $10 billion. ABB employs around 30,000 people throughout the region.
