March 21, 2011 - Accu-Sort Introduces AccuLazr AL5010 Laser Bar Code Scanner. The AccuLazr AL5010 bar code system uses a modular design that includes a scan head, mounting base, power supply and choice of interface modules. Housed in a rugged IP65 enclosure, the AL5010 is designed as a warehouse bar code scanner that functions in almost any industrial environment from distribution centers to tire manufacturing plants. It is easily integrated into most applications, including pick modules, print and apply, routing and sortation systems.

  • Better coverage. Fewer models.
  • Flexible Connectivity. A Basic Interface Module and an Enhanced Interface Module are available.
  • Low Total Cost of Ownership. The AL5010 scanner requires no maintenance other than keeping the scanning window clean in very dusty or dirty environments.
  • Easy-to-use Set-up and Diagnostic Tools.

In only five models, the AL5010 (H 4" x L 5" x W 2") provides scanning coverage from 5 to 48 inches (depending on the bar code's size) in both standard and high-density configurations.

The basic module includes power, scanner and trigger inputs, as well as Ethernet-EtherNet/IP and two RS232/422 serial ports.

The enhanced module also includes a tach input and up to four optional I/O modules.

DeviceNet/Profibus are also available as plug-ins for the enhanced interface.

The use of controller/client configuration and greater processing power eliminates the need for a multiplexer/controller in multiple scanner arrays.

Direct connection to the AL5010 is also possible via a high-density 15-pin connector and built-in Ethernet-EtherNet/IP.

AL5010 is highly reliable, providing greater than 50,000 hour MTBF @ 25 degrees Celsius.

In the event of failure, the scan head is hot-swappable and can be replaced in less than five minutes without the need for reconfiguration or alignment.

Users can press a button on the scan head to upload parameters from the storage module in the mounting base and quickly resume normal operations.

A browser-based user interface allows the AL5010 to be set up right out of the box without the need to download and install software.

A simple set of diagnostics included in the interface assists users when monitoring performance statistics over an Ethernet or EtherNet/IP connection.

AL5010 is also compatible with Accu-Sort's FAST Monitor remote monitoring and diagnostics system.
