PLYMOUTH, MN (May 8, 2008) — ACS Motion Control enhanced its powerful, user-friendly motion control software to support the IEC61131-3 programming language. Designated Application Development Kit (ADK) 6.0, the PLC Open compliant control software allows users to program using any of the five languages in addition to ACSPL+. The advanced ADK 6.0 software provides fully variable mapping that enables flexible bi-directional interfacing, mutual synchronization, and functionality exchange between ACSPL+ and IEC 61131-3 programs.
The addition of full CANOpen support allows SPiiPlus motion controllers to be configured as a CANOpen Master, according to the DS-402 specification, and control up to 64 nodes of motion or I/O. “Our advanced ADK 6.0 software enables the implementation of both highly complex motion-time-event sequences with accurate positioning and timing, and simpler applications such as point-to-point motion control and I/O events,” said Evan Reed, Vice President, ACS Motion Control Inc. “The free motion control software features simulation and motion machine interface (MMI) tools to minimize setup, tuning and programming time for motion control and PLC applications.
The software can be used with all SPiiPlus motion controllers.” The latest revision of the ADK software also enables advanced 2-phase step motor operation in both Open and Closed-loop modes when operated by the internal amplifiers of the SPiiPlus CM and MC4U. In closed-loop operation, the step motors perform to near servolike performance. The ADK 6.0 software provides support for a newly available second TCP/IP Ethernet port on all MC4U products.
Additionally, every component in the MC4U can now be identified by the MMI. ACS Motion Control’s software also features a simulator tool that models an ideal closed loop servo system, allowing users to logically develop multi-axis controller programs in a PC environment without motion control hardware, improving time-to-market. The motion simulator allows for simultaneous application development by multiple users and full simulation of all fault conditions, reducing project development times by as much as several weeks. The simulator also includes MMI functionality, which provides program and motion management, configuration, system analysis, servo tuning, programming, parameter viewing, I/O monitoring, and safety tools.
