July 16, 2012 - The AS-International Association released a Developer Kit for AS-interface (AS-i). It is a powerful toolkit and the first step towards integrating AS-i into a device. Within minutes of set up, the user can create a fully functioning AS-i network and begin to gain experience with basic communication. Developers can then investigate deeper and build a working knowledge of the technology. Included in the kit is an AS-i Programmer that allows for master calls with the ability to configure and inspect any connected slave devices.
Two slave devices are provided with the kit in the form of two evaluation boards. This permits the developer to build and test communication with prototypes that will mimic the final product. The Programmer connects via USB to any Windows-based PC and is controlled with the supplied software. In addition to all necessary hardware and software, the Developer Kit also comes with complete documentation including the “Automation Is Easy with AS-interface” book, multiple manuals and a quick start guide. The Developer Kit is the simplest way to get the necessary experience with AS-i hardware and technology.
