October 29, 2013 - The AST4530 submersible pressure transducer has been certified by CSA International to Class I Div 1, Groups C and D for use in intrinsically safe areas with an approved barrier. The approval includes the latest intrinsically safe hazardous location standards for North America. AST plans to extend this product into hazardous area markets such as oil field liquid level monitoring, salt water holding tanks, chemical injection system monitoring, and production facilities requiring intrinsic safety. Without deadband, reflectivity, and foaming issues, submersible sensor technology with PVDF body and cable, and PTFE non-stick diaphragm, this product is an excellent new technology in the marketplace.

Combined with ABS certification, the AST4530 submersible pressure transducer will also be installed in shipping applications where chemicals are being transported. Wastewater treatment facilities will also benefit from the additional approval due to installation requirements in certain atmospheres. These liquid level sensors remain competitively priced with the addition of the approval. While it features complete PVDF and PTFE construction, pricing is competitive with most stainless steel submersible pressure transducers and other technologies such as ultrasonic sensors and radar level sensors.
