October 29, 2015 - AW-Lake obtained ATEX and IECEx explosion-proof certifications of RT-30EX meter-mounted flow transmitter and HUB-41EX flow sensor, for use in hazardous areas. These certifications are important to engineers designing systems in environments with explosive atmospheres, because they ensure compliance with all standards set forth by European Parliament and of the Council and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for safety and performance. The formal evaluation process involves months of examination, testing and continuous follow-up inspections.
“In order to expand our global reach in areas such as the offshore and petrochemical markets, having products with the necessary hazardous area certifications is crucial. The systems built for these environments must meet strict safety standards, and these new certifications meet our customers’ needs,” stated Mark Iverson, General Manager of AW-Lake Company.
AW-Lake will continue to offer the RT-30EX transmitter with CSA (US & Canada) certification, as well as the non-certified models for those not requiring such stringent criteria as mandated by these certifying bodies.
