August 21, 2014 – B&B Electronics releases Spectre LTE Cellular Router. Taking advantage of the fast data transfer speeds (up to 100Mbit/s for download, 50 Mbit/s for upload) of the LTE cellular network, the router is built for industrial remote M2M monitoring applications that demand speed, low latency, security and the ability to handle large data loads. Designed for plug-and-play simplicity with extensive remote management, deployment and customization options, the Spectre LTE wirelessly connects Ethernet equipment and other devices to the Internet or Intranet via cellular telephone networks. It is now certified and ready for use on the AT&T and Verizon 4G/LTE US networks. The Spectre LTE is a single-box solution that can serve as an Ethernet and/or serial backbone.

A modular design allows for multiple configuration options. The router’s standard configuration includes a 10/100 Ethernet port, USB host port, binary input/output (I/O) port and dual SIM card holders for network redundancy. It also has two auxiliary ports for connecting to other types of networks, including additional Ethernet switch ports, serial RS-232/422/485 interfaces and additional Digital/Analog I/O. An additional option is integrated 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi technology, enabling Wi-Fi Access Point (AP) or “Hotspot” functionality.

As a customization option, the router can be programmed to aggregate data from monitored assets that use various standardized protocols, such as Modbus TCP and Modbus Serial RTU to name a few, organize and process that data specifically for a customer’s unique application, and then transmit the data that is relevant up to a cloud-based data analytics platform. This allows the analytics company to analyze meaningful data, providing actionable intelligence to help the customer cut costs or increase revenue. B&B is collaborating with multiple cloud platform and analytics companies for customers who desire this level of intelligence.

About Spectre Cellular Router Family:

Uniquely designed on a LINUX-based architecture, B&B’s Spectre products are easily customized by installing software plug-in modules. Users can create their own through common LINUX commands/scripts and “C” language-based applications, or add from B&B’s existing library, including Modbus gateway, dynamic routing protocols and secure VPNs (virtual private networks). B&B’s R-SeeNet router management platform offers extensive remote management capabilities. R-SeeNet allows users to easily configure and manage multiple Spectre routers throughout a network. The software continuously collects router statistics and presents information in a concise, user-friendly dashboard.

Self-diagnostics, a watchdog capability and the ability to easily create VPN tunnels ensure secure, consistent operation and reliable wireless connections. The Firmware-Over-The-Air (FOTA) feature enables users to set the router to automatically update its configuration and firmware from the operator’s central server, allowing for simultaneous mass reconfiguration of every router on the network. The Spectre’s industrial design, wide operating range (-30 to 60 degrees C) and wide voltage input range (10-30vdc) make it ideal for use in a variety of wireless M2M communication applications, including: traffic and security monitoring systems, point-of-sale transactional terminals, industrial control systems, and energy, alarm and sensor monitoring systems.
