May 26, 2017 - Brüel & Kjær Vibro announced that it has completed the acquisition of the SETPOINT technology platform from Metrix Instrument Company, L.P. of Houston, Texas. SETPOINT’s technology gives BKV a solution for applications that require a fully API 670-compliant machinery protection system. It also provides BKV with condition monitoring solutions that do not require the level of dedicated computing, software, and network infrastructure typically associated with vibration monitoring software.

The move augments BKV’s existing portfolio of machinery protection and condition monitoring solutions, providing greater access to the North American marketplace for the entire suite of BKV sensors, portable instruments, monitoring solutions, and services.

The SETPOINT product line consists of a machinery protection system (MPS) and condition monitoring software (CMS). While its MPS fulfills most industry standard specifications for protecting rotating and reciprocating machinery against catastrophic failure, its harnessed the capabilities of OSIsoft’s PI System rather than creating a stand- alone database just for vibration.
