At the Bullitt Center, KMC’s BACnet Building Controllers and FlexStats are used for control of radiant floor heating and cooling zones, indoor air quality management, and to provide free cooling.

July 22, 2013 – The Bullitt Foundation completed construction of its 50,000 square foot office building in early 2013. The new office building, billed as the world’s “greenest” and most energy efficient office building, is the first office building in the United States to meet the requirements of the International Living Building Challenge. At the Bullitt Center, KMC’s BACnet Building Controllers and FlexStats are used for control of radiant floor heating and cooling zones, as well as for indoor air quality management and to provide free cooling. Devices are also in place to control rainwater collection, filtration, and purification into potable water from a 56,000-gallon underground cistern, grey water collection, control, pumping, and distribution to the building’s green garden area.

“BACnet International is focused on facilitating BACnet adoption and user successes,” states Andy McMillan, President of BACnet International. “To see BACnet adopted in such a one-of-a-kind and energy conscious building is exciting and will encourage other organizations to follow suit.”

About BACnet International

BACnet International is an industry association that facilitates the successful use of the BACnet protocol in building automation and control systems through interoperability testing, educational programs and promotional activities. The BACnet standard was developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and has been made publicly available so that manufacturers can create interoperable systems of products. BACnet International complements the work of the ASHRAE standards committee and BACnet-related interest groups around the world.

BACnet International members include building owners, consulting engineers and facility managers, as well as companies involved in the design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and maintenance of control equipment that uses BACnet for communication.
