KEMPTEN - January 2025 - The virtual safety controller CODESYS Virtual Safe Control SL has now been certified by TÜV Süd. As of now the product is available in the CODESYS Store. For more than 10 years, the CODESYS Group has been developing and marketing safety software certified according to IEC 61508. With CODESYS Virtual Safe Control SL, the Kempten-based company has taken an important step forward, as this product provides a SIL3 safety controller that can run on standard hardware. Specialized dual-channel hardware is no longer required.
Users benefit in multiple ways. First, hardware and wiring costs are significantly reduced. At the same time, flexibility increases since virtualized systems can handle applications of any size. And security is already a built-in part of the concept, because each application runs in a separate container. Starting in mid-2025, CODESYS Virtual Safe Control SL will be used in manufacturing lines at Audi.
