This program provides consumers of circuit protection devices with an opportunity to properly recycle electrical components that may otherwise populate a landfill.

February 20, 2008, St. Louis, MO –The new Cooper Bussmann Overcurrent Device Recycling Program offers a convenient and environmentally safe way to dispose of ANY brand of fuse, circuit breaker or electrical contactor.

This program is already available at many local electrical distributors, and provides consumers of circuit protection devices with an opportunity to properly recycle electrical components that may otherwise populate a landfill.Recent trends show Americans are taking an increasingly active role in recycling activities leading to considerable increased U.S. recycling rates.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the overall recycling rate in the U.S. has grown from 11% to 32% in the last ten years. “This recycling program is increasing the proper recycling of metal devices such as fuses, circuit breakers and electrical contactors, which are often be forgotten about in everyday recycling procedures.” said Kevin Knopf, Cooper Bussmann marketing manager.

Metal has become one of the most frequently recycled materials in recent years with the U.S. recycling 71 million metric tons in 2005. This illustrates the vast importance of efforts like the Cooper Bussmann Overcurrent Device Recycling Program, which provides Americans with a convenient, nearby facility to properly dispose of their fuses, circuit breakers and electrical contactors. “By the end of 2007, Cooper Bussmann had recycled the equivalent of 15 million 30A fuses,” stated Knopf.

“Recycling these products has become a necessity, and Cooper Bussmann is pleased to provide this convenient recycling service to consumers/customers.”Taking advantage of the Cooper Bussmann Overcurrent Device Recycling Program is easy. Cooper Bussmann supplies participating distributors with a Cooper Bussmann recycling box, which customers can easily locate in the distributor’s showroom. The box is clearly labeled, and will only be used to recycle ANY brand of fuse, circuit breaker or electrical contactor. Once the used devices are dropped into the box, Cooper Bussmann does the rest.
