CygNet enhances Enterprise Operations Platform software for oil and gas

22 February, 2010
Service Release 1 adds a set of open, standards-based interfaces with Web services that use common integration standards like XML, Java Messaging Service (JMS), and HTTP.

February 22, 2010 – CygNet Software announced Service Release 1 for its CygNet Enterprise Operations Platform (EOP) 7.2 which delivers powerful new integration capabilities that enable oil and gas companies to more effectively capitalize on the massive volumes of data generated by their field devices and operational systems. The cornerstone of this release is the Enterprise Integration Suite (EIS). EIS includes a set of open, standards-based interfaces that enable business users as well as deep operational and technical experts to reduce the complexity, time, and cost involved in integrating real-time operational data into enterprise systems.

About CygNet EOP 7.2 Service Release 1

CygNet EOP 7.2 Service Release 1 adds even more power to the oil and gas industry’s most advanced solution for transforming raw data collected from diverse operational systems and field devices into actionable information. With the addition of EIS, CygNet EOP now provides a collection of interfaces that give both business and technical users the ability to deliver information to the enterprise with greater speed and agility, while ensuring future application upgrade integrity.Value is immediately delivered by the design incorporated into the Enterprise Objects layer, which includes a set of Web services that use common integration standards like XML, Java Messaging Service (JMS), and HTTP.

These standards allow EIS to seamlessly transfer valuable operational data into back office transactional systems and other third party applications commonly used by oil and gas enterprises, such as asset management or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. For example, a Web service can feed field operations data directly into an organization’s ERP module, such as an enterprise maintenance application. In addition to Enterprise Objects, the EIS suite also delivers standard connectors that CygNet EOP “power users” can use to facilitate process control, programming, and system administration. Key benefits of CygNet EOP 7.2 Service Release 1 include:

  • A significant reduction in the time, resources, and cost required to integrate CygNet EOP with mission-critical enterprise applications from third parties.
  • Delivers valuable operational data more deeply into the oil and gas enterprise, fostering better and faster decision making for both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Enables resource-constrained IT departments to reduce the total cost of ownership involved in supporting business user demands for integrated streams of information and to eliminate the need to maintain proprietary interfaces.
  • Gives users the flexibility to easily make changes to integration points without disrupting the IT infrastructure.
  • Allows organizations to turn around enterprise integration projects within a matter of weeks, instead of over months or years.
