Atlanta, Georgia May 2, 2006 – Dataradio was selected by the SouthCom Dispatch Center in Matteson, Illinois to provide a turnkey private mobile data system to facilitate communications between Fire, EMS and Police First Responders and the Dispatch Center. The single site, single channel system utilizes 43.2 kbps GeminiPD+ mobiles and the ParagonPD+ Base Station. Padcom’s TotalRoam® Mobile Virtual Private Network (VPN) software provides seamless network roaming in the coverage area. Dataradio selected smartBridges for the Access Point hardware.
The system intelligently switches between the Dataradio infrastructure and the airPoint™ Nexus Access Points when a mobile comes within range of a hot spot for a continuous communications link." The SouthCom system required a high quality access point that had the ability to provide dynamic IP addressing (DHCP) so a separate DHCP server would not be needed.
