March 1, 2010 - Distech Controls acquired Acelia and Comtec Technologie from the France-based company, Groupe Arcom. Acelia is the sales unit of Arcom while Comtec Technologie represents the research, development and manufacturing division. Groupe Arcom designs and manufactures a range of building automation products including HVAC, lighting and sunblind control systems - all based on open building control protocols, notably BACnet, LONWORKS, EnOcean and DALI. The company offers expertise in Integrated Room Control technology that substantially reduces a building’s energy consumption and CO2 emissions. With the integration of Comtec, Distech Controls continues to expand its worldwide distribution of open and interoperable building control technologies.

The synergies between the organizations will be capitalized to strengthen Distech Controls’ industry leading position. The newly acquired products from Comtec will complement Distech Controls’ existing product offering. Distech Controls’ extensive range of LONWORKS and BACnet HVAC controllers, lighting control and security solutions will be integrated into the Acelia offering. Customers will be able to take advantage of end-to-end solutions that meet the very highest international “green” standards for building automation systems. The Acelia and Comtec acquisition significantly increases Distech Controls’ market share across Europe and the Middle East.

Etienne Veilleux, President and CEO of Distech Controls Inc. commented “This acquisition is a major step forward in our growth curve. From an operational perspective, it enables us to share technology innovation and best practices across regional business units on two continents. The global building automation industry is driven by a relentless demand for higher levels of sustainable solutions.

The acquisition greatly enhances our capability to meet, even surpass that demand.”
