April 12, 2011 - Eaton introduces ESR5 safety relay. The ESR5 is engineered to monitor safety circuits and will be a key enhancement to the safety of equipment. The device is designed specifically for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The ESR5 is designed to reliably monitor the signals from safety devices and switch off quickly in an emergency. With redundant features, it is engineered for the construction of safety applications.
The ESR5 is compatible with a range of safety devices, including emergency stops, rope pulls, two-hand control stations and others. In the event of a fault or activation of the safety device, the enable paths are switched off. The ESR5 detects faults that occur in the control circuit, including ground fault, cross connection fault or wire breakage. It is available in single- and dual-channel versions. Rated for global applications, the ESR5 safety relay is designed in accordance with European standard (EN) 954-1, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 13849-1, InternationalElectrotechnical Commission (IEC) 62061 and 61508.
The ESR5 also meets Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 508, Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and Conformité Européenne (CE) standards and certifications. It is rated by TÜVRheinland for use in safety applications.
