November 4, 2013 - ECS Solutions enhances S88 Builder. Version 2 includes additional tools to further reduce custom code development. Its phase logic interface now efficiently maps phase classes in the batch management system to phase classes in the controller, further reducing the need for custom code. Also included are numerous human-machine interface (HMI) enhancements. Most of the HMI objects have been significantly redesigned to present operators with the normal condition controls they might need, without overwhelming operators with hardware and abnormal condition recovery controls unless a guided drill-in condition exists.
Version 2 also adds tools for building an effective continuous process control system. Process Actions are operator controls that initiate process tasks in the absence of a batch management system. Controller based procedures can sequence multiple process tasks such as regenerating a filter or reactor. S88 Builder has proven to reduce project development efforts by up to 90% compared to custom programming. The system owner can effectively make system changes over the lifetime.
Configuring with S88 Builder lowers the total cost of ownership for a process control system by minimizing initial development costs, minimizing life-cycle development costs and reducing time-to-market for new products. Advanced operating features reduce life-cycle cost by reducing waste and downtime.
S88 Builder enables users to configure lists of devices such as valves, heaters, mixers, pumps, variable speed drives or tanks, then build them into specific process tasks such as blending, material flow control, heating, cleaning, etc. It provides a configuration process that is easier, more accurate and faster than programming devices and tasks. Version 2 of S88 Builder includes many additional features to make it faster to use and more scalable for large batch or process systems.
S88 Builder system is compatible with Rockwell Automation PLCs/PACs, HMIs and batch management and visualization software. Additional brands of hardware and software are under development.
