The topic of 'measurement' includes sensors, perception systems, analyzers, signal processing, filtering, data compression and any of the techniques that support them such as artificial intelligence, fuzzy logic, communication systems, and process analysis.

The topic of 'automation' includes statistical and deterministic strategies for discrete event and continuous process control, modeling and simulation, event triggers and any equipment, techniques and best practices that support them such as optimization, learning systems, gaming strategy development, security, and human interfacing and training. "I'm confident that researchers and advanced practitioners throughout the world will continue to benefit from this journal, and our partnership with Elsevier only strengthens that impact," said Russ Rhinehart, Editor-in-Chief of ISA Transactions. "They have proven programs set up for marketing our journal, enhancing our cross citations, and improving our manuscript reviewing process.

Authors and reviewers will definitely benefit from Elsevier's extensive publishing experience." Elsevier publisher Christopher Greenwell noted, "We are looking forward to the journal returning to Elsevier from next year.

It will both complement and expand our portfolio in the field and I am looking forward to exceeding ISA's expectations."
