exida certified the design and engineering processes of the Micropack FDS 301Visual Flame Detector.

June 21, 2009 - exida certified the design and engineering processes of the Micropack FDS 301Visual Flame Detector. “Micropack’s visual imaging flame detection technology is naturally suited to automatic protection applications,” says exida Partner William Goble. “In addition to passing a detailed analysis of product design and product failure modes, Micropack has demonstrated compliant development and manufacturing processes that meet the requirements of the IEC 61508 safety standard.” Part of exida’s certification process, a Failure Mode Effect and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) generated accurate failure rate data for the FDS 301Visual Flame Detector. The results are included in the exSILentia SIL verification tool database that helps end users quickly design products.

“exida is the market leader in 61508 certification of field instrumentation products,” says Micropack Senior Marketing Manager Adrian Lloyd. “The exida analysts are demanding, but we wanted a certification that will give our customers confidence in our design processes and products.”
