April 26, 2011 - exida released PHAX, a software module within the exSILentia suite of safety lifecycle tools that guides users through the Hazard and Operability study (HAZOP) process. The module helps identify and document hazards, hazardous events and associated sequence of events. It documents important facts while assigning attributes to safeguards and recommendations identified as potential SIFs or Alarms. The tool also simplifies information flow from PHA to Safety Integrity Level (SIL) selection/verification and alarm rationalization viadirect data exchange with exida’s exSILentia and SILAlarm tools.

“Integrating PHAX with exSILentia and SILAlarm allows HAZOP result tracking throughout the safety and alarm management lifecycles defined by the IEC 61511/ISA 84 and ISA-18.2 standards,” said Iwan van Beurden, director of engineering for exida. “This provides traceability and helps manages changes that may impact HAZOP results.”
