October 28, 2008 - Whether industrial robots need to be supplied with vacuum or metal sheets need to be moved in the automotive industry – the compressed air required is expensive. This is where one of the greatest present-day challenges faced by vacuum technology, to find and exploit potential for savings and conservation. This is exactly what FIPA GmbH is doing with its new compact ejectors, which reduce the consumption of energy to a fraction.

Vacuum suction nozzle, valve control and (optional) vacuum switch: The assembly of the FIPA compact ejectors is characterized by the fact that the vacuum supply or the blow-off impulse are controlled extremely precisely in the vicinity of the vacuum cup – and only that volume of compressed air is used, which is required for secure “Pick & Place” functionality. Economical and secure: As soon as the desired level of vacuum has been reached at the suction gripper, the vacuum switch sends a feedback (process safety) so that the work-piece required to be transported can start moving. In parallel, an integrated non-return valve switches off the compressed air supply and restarts it only when the vacuum strength falls to a defined minimum level.

However, the compact ejectors of FIPA are not only economical, but also ensure the shortest cycle times using high blow-off volumes of flow and secure control via suction and blow-off using integrated magnetic valves. The slim design and, thus, eventually space-conserving installation, finally make the ejector a complete one, which is designed to cater to the highest level of demands ranging from A to Z. For this purpose, compressed air manifolds are available, with which the compact ejectors can be combined to form blocks. This brings about savings both in terms of space and cost using a centralized supply of compressed air.
