Quiet sorter offers fast, accurate sortation for standard and oversized passenger baggage
(Danville, KY, August 18, 2003) The FKI Logistex (LSE: FKI.L) Baggage Handling Team, a leader in providing total baggage handling solutions in both the US and internationally, announces the launch of the Crisplant S-3000E tilt-tray sorter for the baggage handling marketplace. The S-3000E is the industry's leading high-speed solution for baggage transportation and sortation, offering accurate discharge from 100% track and trace computer controlled tilting tray design. The S-3000E provides an ideal solution for rapid baggage sortation, featuring adjustable velocities up to 688 ft/min.
The sorter's innovative design banks the trays in the curves, enabling it to keep the centrifugal force of the package centered on the tray and allowing the system to achieve greater speeds than other high-speed sorters. The programmable electronic tilting mechanism, which can be set up to a maximum of 45°, provides greater discharge accuracy and higher discharge control. In addition, the electronic tilting mechanism significantly reduces noise levels, allowing the sorter to operate at a mere 62 db(A). The flexible architecture of the S-3000E facilitates fast, accurate handling for passenger baggage both large and small. Each sorter tray accommodates bags and articles up to 39 inches long, 31 inches wide, and 110 lbs in weight.
Large, bulky, or oversized items can be placed across two sorter trays, providing a maximum item length of 78 inches. In addition, optional reinforcement bracing can be added to increase the maximum tray weight up to 154 lbs. A patent is pending on an S-3000E innovation, which allows operators to use a Palm Pilot® or other PDA's to upload or download instructions to any tilting device along the system, facilitating easier maintenance and troubleshooting. The S-3000E is suited for both new construction and retrofit applications, and integrates easily with the company's full line of baggage handling technology — including system controls, make-up piers, and Hold Bag Screening (HBS) solutions.
