March 17, 2011 - At this year's Hannover Messe exhibition, FSG will present the MH4096-PB/CAN-1023 series of high-resolution heavy duty encoders. The devices register the rotation angle and speed with a maximum resolution of 12 Bit over 360°, and can cover up to 4,096 revolutions in multi-turn mode. The encoders' contact-free measuring system is based on integrated Hall sensors which register changes in the field of the permanent magnets and transform them into digital signals. Thereby, position values are provided directly after activation, requiring no reference runs after power failure.
Thanks to a robust, seawater-proof aluminum housing with a chemically nickel-plated special coating, the encoders withstand even difficult conditions in rugged environments. They are suited for a -40°C to +85 °C temperature range and provide IP68 protection on the housing side and IP67 on the shaft side. A typical application is position detection on ships or in offshore and outdoor applications. The encoders provide angle and speed data either via a Profibus or via a CANopen interface. DIP switches in the terminal compartment at the back of the encoder allow users to assign addresses and activate additional bus terminators.
The electrical connection is established via three stainless steel cable glands.
