June 26, 2012—FSG's heavy duty length sensors are based on the draw wire measuring principle and thereby qualify for positioning tasks in demanding environments such as dusty or humid atmospheres. They are equipped with a plastic-coated stainless steel measuring rope with a 3 mm diameter and feature an integrated rope brake.

The units have a standard measuring range of 4 m. The rope length transmitters are easy to install and can be combined with single or multi turn encoders which convert the length-proportional number of drum revolutions into an analog or digital measurement signal. In addition to FSG encoders, other standard encoders can be used as well. Output signals can be transferred via a 4-20 mA current output, a 1-5 kΩ resistance output, a CANopen interface or a resolver interface.
