ISA EXPO 2007, HOUSTON, OCTOBER 3, 2007 – GE MDS released of two new features in its NETio family of products. MODBUS Protocol Addressable I/O and Direct Mode are two new features that will allow customers to streamline costs and reduce network complexity. MODBUS Protocol Addressable I/O allows users to directly address I/O connected to NETio modules using the Modbus RTU protocol. Users are able to read inputs and set outputs exactly as they would for a RTU or PLC. Customers have additional, more cost-effective alternatives for bringing remote I/O signals into their network.
NETio allows I/O signals to be interfaced using a single radio component. The Direct Mode feature in NETio supports direct NETio to NETio multipoint communications without requiring an entraNET Access Point (AP), making it an ideal solution for smaller scale applications that need simple signal regeneration or MODBUS protocol addressable I/O. Direct Mode significantly improves the cost-effectiveness of the NETio product family by scaling the cost of NETio solutions to smaller applications where the additional cost of an entraNET AP is prohibitive.
