Free one-day educational seminars on WirelessHART technology are being presented by the HART Communication Foundation in Europe and North America during 2012.

June 18, 2012 — A free one-day educational seminar for users on WirelessHART technology, the industry’s first international wireless communication standard, is being presented by the HART Communication Foundation in Europe and North America during 2012. The vendor-neutral seminar, Using WirelessHART Technology in Process Industries, includes presentations by technology experts, live demonstrations of WirelessHART technology (IEC 62591; EN 62591), and firsthand experience of the technology’s interoperability, reliability and ease of use. Seminars are scheduled in Aix-en-Provence, France (Thu, 28 Jun), Baton Rouge, LA (Tue, 14 Aug), Houston, TX (Thu, 16 Aug), Edmonton, Canada (Tue, 18 Sep), Calgary, Canada (Thu, 20 Sep) and Frankfurt, Germany (Thu, 27 Sep).

Attendees earn Professional Development Hours (PDHs). There is no charge to attend the seminars but seating is limited and registration is required. “Users who attend these free seminars discover for themselves the powerful benefits WirelessHART communication provides,” says Ron Helson, HART Communication Foundation Executive Director. “For instance, they will see devices from different manufacturers forming a robust mesh network relaying data from one device to the other and integrating that data with wired solutions.” Seminar topics include understanding and using WirelessHART technology in the plant environment and planning and implementing a WirelessHART project.

The live demonstrations show the interoperability of WirelessHART gateways, devices and adapters from multiple manufacturers and demonstrate the simple process of a device joining the network. The seminars are sponsored by Foundation member companies: ABB, Emerson, Endress+Hauser, MACTek, Pepperl+Fuchs, Phoenix Contact, ProComSol, and Siemens. The HART Communication Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit membership organization that provides global support for the application of HART technology. The Foundation is the technology owner, standards setting body and central authority on the HART Communication Protocol, establishing and controlling new technology developments and enhancements that support the needs of the process automation industry.

Founded in 1993, Foundation membership includes more than 270 companies worldwide. HART Communication is the leading technology for smart process instruments with more than 35 million devices installed worldwide.
