MTWZ is a developer and provider of QUINDOS software solutions for quality control of complex mechanical parts such as gears and turbine blades.

June 26, 2008 - Hexagon AB acquired all outstanding shares in the German company Messtechnik Wetzlar GmbH. MTWZ is a leading developer and provider of QUINDOS software solutions for quality control of complex mechanical parts such as gears and turbine blades. MTWZ is also a solutions provider for turnkey projects around material handling metrology solutions. The company will be integrated into Hexagon Metrology, the world’s largest industrial measurement group, incorporating industry leading brands Brown & Sharpe, Cognitens, DEA, Leitz, Leica Geosystems, Sheffield, ROMER, PC-DMIS and TESA.

Excluding intercompany sales, MTWZ will add approximately $3.3 million USD to Hexagon annual sales. The company has experienced healthy growth in recent years, and employs 34 people. MTWZ will be fully consolidated into Hexagon Metrology as of July 1, 2008 and will immediately contribute to Hexagon's earnings. MTWZ's QUINDOS metrology software is used with high-end coordinate measuring machines such as the Leitz PMM series.

The solution is used to inspect and measure the complex geometry of gears, powertrain components, and turbine blades utilized by industries such as aerospace, automotive, power generation including wind power, and heavy engineering. "The acquisition of MTWZ shows our commitment to the high-end segment of software tools in the quality control of prismatic parts. MTWZ's software package QUINDOS7 complements the Hexagon software package PC-DMIS, and thus our software offering in this area," says Ola Rollén, CEO and President of Hexagon AB.
