October 1, 2008 - HIMA announced the opening of its second subsidiary operation in North America in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The opening of the Calgary office in 2008 extends HIMA’s service, support and proven safety-system technology deeper into the North American market, following HIMA’s move into the Americas in 2005 with the opening of its regional headquarters in Houston. HIMA is the world’s leading independent supplier of safety-related process and factory automation solutions and the pioneer of solid state and programmable electronic safety systems. The company provides expertise in the areas of safety consulting, SIL determination and verification, systems integration and testing, TUV-certified training, field services and safety lifecycle management.
The Calgary office enables HIMA to deliver an increased level of service to its steadily growing list of customers in the region, including ExxonMobil, Conoco Phillips, Bayer Materials Science, BASF, DSM Chemicals, Evonik, Ineos Phenol, PDVSA, PEMEX, Eccopetrol Petrobras, and many others. HIMA’s Canadian office is managed by Brad Ogilvie, Country Manager, appointed on 1st July 2008. Brad will be responsible for supporting HIMA’s agents and partners throughout Canada and expanding the company’s share in this rapidly growing market. He has 10 years of diverse experience in the safety industry, having come from HIMA’s operations in the Middle East (Dubai) and most recently HIMA’s regional headquarters in Houston.
“The opening of the Canadian office is yet another step in our strategy of expanding our footprint in the American market,” said Sven Grone, president of HIMA in the Americas. “The Canadian petrochemical and energy industry has seen tremendous growth in recent years, and many facilities are looking for our market-leading automated safety solutions. This new office allows HIMA to provide more localized sales and support options for our growing Canadian customer base.”Currently, HIMA has an installed base of 20,000 systems and presence in more than 50 countries worldwide. HIMA has recently introduced HIMax, the first safety system to provide maximum plant uptime as well as maximum safety and uninterrupted system operation throughout the entire life of the plant.
HIMax is based on HIMA’s revolutionary NONSTOP XMR technology that combines diagnostic based SIL 3 safety integrity with a scalable fault tolerant architecture, which essentially eliminates the need to shut down a plant to perform upgrades on the safety system.
