April 13, 2009 – Honeywell announced two expansions to its Spyder family of controllers: the addition of BACnet protocol to existing controls and Spyder Micro, which offers powerful functionality sized and priced for VAV and unitary applications.
Available in BACnet
The availability of the BACnet protocol provides the openness and ability to use the Spyder controller with other devices or as standalone systems. Spyder controllers offer significant cost savings compared to proprietary systems and offer the flexibility to control and monitor any building automation process.
Spyder Micro
With a smaller footprint for tight mounting requirements and multiple input/output (I/O) options, the powerful Spyder Micro is ideal for new and retrofit applications. Upon initial release, Spyder Micro will be available with LONWORKS.Spyder Micro includes a 15-Hz Pulse Meter Input, which is important for energy monitoring applications. The input accepts water, sewage and electricity meters.Other key features include:
- Sylk two-wire, polarity-insensitive communicating bus simplifies and speeds wiring
- Optional conduit box helps meet code requirements.
- 200 function blocks and 220 network variables for greater programming capabilities“These expansions are significant because contractors can now apply the benefits of Spyder controllers to substantially more applications,” says Dave Molin, general manager, Honeywell Building Control Systems.
“Honeywell is investing in the Spyder line to help contractors win—and keep—more jobs and more customers.”Honeywell International is a $37 billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials.
