April 1, 2009 - IDS Imaging Development Systems announces a USB camera line that is tailored to the needs of OEMs and System Integrators. The rugged metal housing of the USB uEye ME – ME for “Machine Edition” – features a right-angle design that allows it to fit into the tightest spaces. The right-angle and low-profile design, make this new camera model ideal for space-saving integration into machines and robots. Six mounting holes in the housing provide for easy integration and allow front-mounting the camera onto otherwise hard to reach places when using typical mounting methods. The lockable USB and trigger/strobe connectors are designed for use in demanding industrial environments.
The comprehensive accessories range offers a broad choice of suitable cables, including drag-chain models. The USB uEye ME from IDS comes with a wide variety of state-of-the-art CMOS and CCD sensors with resolutions from VGA to 5 Megapixel. Some of the models can achieve frame rates up to 100 fps at an image size of 640 x 480 pixels. Most models are available as monochrome and color versions at the same price level. The cameras ship with an extensive software development kit (SDK) for Windows and Linux, including drivers, demo programs and source code in C++, C# and VB.
As the SDK is 100% driver compatible with all uEye cameras, no programming is necessary when switching to different USB or GigE models within the uEye family. The software bundle that comes with the camera provides interfaces for DirectShow/WDM, ActiveX and 3rd party drivers for most popular machine vision software. The cameras of the new ME series – like all camera models from IDS – support the new GenICam software standard. The supplied GenICam sample application code shows users how to easily integrate industrial cameras within their own applications in order to achieve hardware interchangeability between manufacturers and technologies.
