The good news for end users and automation engineers is that using the available standards, combined with imagination and dedicated effort, the new generation of software tools, already available, allows the creation of solutions that run natively across the many platforms, using the maximum security and performance of its host system.
The iPad and Microsoft .NET, Unified SCADA Environment will present the solutions and standards used to create a SCADA, HMI, and MES engineering framework, which allows deploying applications, with safety and efficiency, in this current distributed scenario. The productivity leap was only possible because no legacy code or structures were carried, using a design created from principals to leverage the ultimate available technologies. The use case presented, using Tatsoft FactoryStudio as its foundation, relies on SQL databases to allow distributed concurrent development, .NET languages for scripts, and XAML to the definition of the graphical layouts.
