17 October, 2005
1 min read

Research Triangle Park, NC (17 October 2005) -- Beginning in January 2006, ISA's three certification exams, Certified Automation Professional(tm) (CAP(tm)), Certified Control Systems Technician® (CCST®), and Certified Industrial Maintenance Mechanic(tm) (CIMM(tm)), will be offered electronically and will be available at test sites around the world. ISA will be using the Thompson Prometric global network of testing centers ( www.prometric.com ), which features testing centers in hundreds of locations globally.

Candidates must still meet the eligibility requirements, complete the application, and will then take the exam in a proctored environment in a testing center.Through a secure delivery network, ISA's new electronic testing will feature:

  • State-of-the-art testing technology providing the most current industry standards and fast reporting of test scores,
  • An established network of highly secure testing centers that ensure a professional and consistent test experience, and
  • Certified, professional and experienced proctors to provide a seamless test experience for the candidate and ensure the security of the exam.Thomson Prometric Test Centers (PTC) are professional testing facilities dedicated to providing industry-leading testing services to all candidates.

From the workstations to the furniture, every testing lab is identical to every other in all aspects other than size.

The number of workstations ranges from six to nineteen in any given lab.

The added flexibility and accessibility of electronic testing will make the certification process much faster and easier.

However, it does involve a change in testing policy to ensure that exam security is maintained: all exams will be closed book as of 1 January 2006.
