KUKA KR 16 Robot to be Used in Automated Grinding System to Improve Worker Safety and Quality Clinton Township, Michigan - November 15, 2006 - KUKA Robotics Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of industrial robots, today announced it has been selected by SHL Automation, Inc. (SHL) as its robotics supplier for its new grinding and scotching system. SHL Automation, Inc. of Tucker, Georgia, will use the KUKA KR 16 robot in its system which will allow manufacturers to improve worker safety and product quality. The new system will be demonstrated at SHL’s open house scheduled to take place at SHL’s headquarters on December 5-7 from 10am to 1pm.

The new system is designed to grind, scotch and measure door handles. The KUKA KR 16 robot is a six-axis robot with a 1610 mm reach and capable of handling up to a 16 kg payload.
