Clinton Township , Michigan - April 4, 2007 - KUKA Robotics released PalletTech palletizing software version 3.5. The new version of the palletizing software features enhanced capabilities for complicated robotic palletizing applications including augmented gripper support and multiple orientation pick up. The software is a suite of application development and run time tools that reduces engineering and development time and enables the out-of-box implementation of complicated robotic palletizing applications. “Palletizing customers with complex palletizing applications have been demanding more flexibility to accommodate their processes,” said Stuart Shepherd, president of KUKA Robotics Corporation.
“With the ability to work off line and dynamically reposition itself during pallet builds PalletTech 3.5 offers capabilities that our customers cannot easily find other places on the market.” KUKA Robotics’ PalletTech software version 3.5 suite consists of two modules, the PalletEdit tool and the PalletRunTime application package. PalletEdit is a PC based offline engineering and programming tool that allows development of complete palletizing applications in a GUI environment, including optimized pallet patterns and robot motion profiles.
The tool features a point and click interface and requires no spreadsheet or formula interfaces. New features in version 3.5 include enhanced clamp gripper support that allows for the use of grippers with two independent gripping segments and multiple orientation pick capability that allows for the robot to pick product that is oriented either lengthwise or widthwise from the same conveyor. KUKA Robotics Corporation, with its parent company KUKA Roboter GmbH, Augsburg, Germany, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of industrial robots, with an annual production volume approaching 10,000 units, and an installed base of over 75,000 units.
The company’s 5 and 6 axis robots range from 3kg to 570kg payloads, and 635mm to 3700mm reach, all controlled from a common PC based controller platform. KUKA robots are utilized in a diverse range of industries including the appliance, automotive, aerospace, consumer goods, logistics, food, pharmaceutical, medical, foundry and plastics industries and in multiple applications including material handling, machine loading, assembly, packaging, palletizing, welding, bending, joining, and surface finishing.
