New KurtCAN Gage Systems Measure Critical Features Of Beverage And Food Cans – Measurement Time Less Than 10 Seconds, Resolution to 10 Millionths
Minneapolis, Minnesota: Kurt announces introduction of its new KurtCAN Gage systems designed to measure critical features of beverage and food cans. With a measurement time of less than 10 seconds, these gage systems measure multiple can sizes with resolution to 10 millionths. Complete KurtCAN Gage measurement includes three separate gages for checking wall thickness, trim and dome heights, flange width, neck plug diameter and the finished can height. Some measurement features like the wall thickness are captured in a dynamic mode while the can is automatically rotated. Neck plug roundness and max/min readings on height and width are also provided in this manner.
The KurtCAN systems capture more than 1000 readings per second providing an extremely accurate measurement of the can features. Each of these systems is hand loaded either in the horizontal or vertical mode. Once the operator loads the part, two switches on the right and left sides of the gage move the part into the measurement station automatically. If rotation is required, the motor automatically starts and rotates the can 360 degrees about its axis while measurement is done. LVDT measuring transducers capture the measurements and feed the data into the user’s data collection system or into a fully integrated data collection package available from Kurt Manufacturing Company.
