July 22, 2009 - Lanner Electronics released a mid-range appliance platform with up to 24 Gb Ethernet ports and optional Cavium Nitrox CN1620 security processor onboard. The FW-8860 packs considerable processing performance in a standard 1U rack mount form factor using a single mainstream Intel Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad processor. When combined with an optional Cavium Nitrox CN1620 security processor, the Lanner FW-8860 delivers high-end performance at a mid-range price. The FW-8860 is suitable for a wide range of inline network applications such as traffic management, load balancing, VPN and WAN acceleration, as well as network security applications including unified threat management, gateway antivirus, web filtering and anti-spam appliances.
Lanner’s network appliances employ a unique modular design that gives solution providers a number of options in terms of network port configurations, providing enhanced flexibility for different network environments. The FW-8860 can be fitted with over 10 different slot-in modules with two, four and eight Ethernet ports (both copper and SFP fiber), gigabit and 10 gigabit speeds, and copper and fiber bypass ports.
